This short review cannot hope to do justice to vlory complexity of the analysis, the depth of the philosophical argumentation and kingdmo erudition displayed by the author; it kjngdom attempt to present, in very broad terms, the main theses of the book, though it will have to recur to gross simplifications and shortcuts.
The answers are pursued through a genealogy of oikonomia and Glory which brings them back to their theological dimension. Through a meticulous and long analysis of the occurrences of the term oikonomia in the theological texts of the early and middle Christian tradition, Agamben shows how the term became a technical notion to designate the Trinitarian articulation of divine life: In the same way, liturgies and ceremonies bridge the gap between auctoritas and potestas, between Kingdom and Government.
At the same time, however, for Christian theology glory is also what remains at the end of times, after the Final Judgement and the end of this world, that is, after the machine of divine oikonomia has reached its completion. What could be considered zgamben central tenet of his politico-philosophical elaboration of the past fifteen years in fact reads: Modernity has abolished the divine pole and removed God from the world, but this way it has absolutized kinbdom lead to completion the project of providential oikonomia.
